Dr. Davis's History
DR. DAVIS CARES DEEPLY ABOUT HER FAMILY, HER PATIENTS, HER PROFESSION, AND HER COMMUNITY.
Dr. Davis is a current member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Illinois State Medical Society, and the Sangamon County Medical Society.

She received her medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and she completed her internship in pediatrics and her residency in psychiatry at St. John's Hospital and Memorial Hospital. She subsequently joined the faculty of the SIU School of Medicine as an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Psychiatry and also served as a child psychiatrist for the McFarland Child and Adolescent Unit.

Dr. Davis's private practice includes the diagnosis and treatment of children, adolescents, and adults. She is a dedicated psychiatric intensivist and provides individualized care that is state of the art and quite comprehensive. Unlike medical providers who are contracted by an HMO or PPO and must follow guidelines set by the insurance companies, she is free to request any laboratory/diagnostic tests needed for the appropriate diagnosis and treatment of a condition. She can also prescribe any medication which she feels would best serve her patients.

She is currently an adjunct faculty member of the University of Illinois at Chicago where she specializes in the use of nuclear brain imaging for the evaluation and treatment of mild to severe brain trauma, dementia and cognitive decline, seizure activity, atypical and refractory psychiatric disorders, and exposure to toxic substances. This new imaging technique, known as SPECT imaging, provides physicians with a detailed picture of brain function and is extremely helpful in accurately diagnosing and treating complex disorders.

Prior to entering the field of medicine, Dr. Davis as already well known for her community service with children, adolescents, parents, educators, and community organizations as a consultant and educator for District #186. She originated an early childhood/parent education program called "Fun Shop" more than 25 years ago. She also established Camp CoCo, a summer camping experience for children with cancer and long-term illness, which has now been replicated throughout the United States.
